COACHING STAFF

Manager: JD Vidal (2nd year)

JD Vidal played collegiately at St. Andrews College where he was a 4-year starter at Shortstop. Vidal was a 3-time All conference performer, 2-time All Region performer and 3-time team MVP. He currently holds 12 different career and season records at St. Andrews. After college, Vidal played 2 seasons professionally in the Independent Frontier League for the Kenosha Mammoths.

Vidal's coaching career began as an Assistant Coach at Mt. Pleasant HS in 2003 and then as a Volunteer Assistant at Belmont Abbey College in 2004. He then spent the next 5 years as an Assistant Coach at Myers Park HS. In 2009 Vidal took over as the Head Coach at Cox Mill HS, where he currently remains as Head Coach. Vidal was the first coach at the 3rd Year school (Cox Mill) and led them to a State Playoff appearance in only their second year of existence.

 

 


Assistant Coach: Jon Tuscan (1st year)

Jon is a 2002 graduate of Solon High School (Ohio) and a 2006 graduate of Ohio University. He served at Piedmont High School as the Varsity Assistant for Catchers and Hitters and has been a Head Coach of the Charlotte Megastars and On Deck O’s. Jon also served at Providence High School as Varsity Assistant and Head JV Coach where he worked with catchers and hitters. While at Providence High School, the team was ranked 16th nationally and 2009 SW4A Conference Champions.
Currently, Jon is the Head Coach at South Mecklenburg High School where he was Southwestern 4A Coach of the year in 2010 and 2013. South Meck is currently the 2013 Co-conference champions, Conference tournament champions and 2013 Western Regional Champions. Coach Tuscan and his team will be playing for the 2013 4A State Championship 6/1 and 6/2.
Jon teaches Math at South Mecklenburg and lives in Charlotte with Wife Sarah.


Assistant Coach: Andrew Romberger (1st year)

Andrew Romberger grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School from 1994-1997. From 1998-1999, Andrew attended Montco     junior college where he was a two-year starter. 1998-2000 worked for the Philadelphia Phillies as a summer baseball instructor. In 1999-2002 attended Wingate University and was a two year All-South Atlantic Conference player and received All region honors as well. From 2003-2008 served as an assistant baseball coach at Weddington High School in Union County, NC and coached the first team to make the state playoffs. 2010-2011 coordinated and facilitated a Tee-ball program/summer baseball camps for Upper Palmetto YMCA located in Fort Mill, SC. In 2011-present Andrew accepted a position as the Director of Player Development at Steele Creek Athletic Association for all their youth baseball programs.


Bench Coach: Chris Hinnau (2nd year)

Born in Connecticut, Chris lived in Alamo, California and moved to Charlotte 8 yrs ago. Chris played for Marvin Ridge High School his Junior and Senior seasons where he was a role player. His senior season, the Mavericks went 16-0 in conference play and lost to Lake Norman in the 3rd round of the State Playoffs. Graduating from Marvin in 2009, Chris is currently a Junior at UNC Charlotte and has worked their as the Team Manager for the past 2 seasons. In those two seasons, UNCC became regular season Conference Champs in 2010 and won both the regular season and conference championship in 2011. Chris was also with the team as they got to play in a regional at Arizona State in 2011. Chris is majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Economics. After graduating from college, Chris would like to continue his career coaching baseball.

 

 


Assistant Coach/Athletic Trainer: Parker Lang (1st year)

Parker Lang from Hurricane, West Virginia will graduate in December of 2013 from Wheeling Jesuit University with a degree in Athletic Training. He plans to attend graduate school and become a physical therapist. Parker was a four year starter on the mound for Wheeling Jesuit, leading them in earned run average and innings pitched as a senior. He also finished his career 2nd all-time in wins for the Cardinals. Parker was a member of the Ballantyne Smokies 2012 championship team and SCBL all star team as a relief pitcher.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Clubhouse Manager: Nick Roy (1st year)

Nick Roy finished his fourth season as Director of Operations/Equipment Manager and eighth season as a member of the program. The 2010 season was his first as Director of Baseball Operations. He spent the 2009 season as a student assistant under the watchful eyes of head coach Allen Osborne. Nick Roy joined the coaching staff after catching for the Bulldogs from 2005 through 2008. Roy assists with the pitchers, catchers and hitters during practice. He is also in charge of the clubhouse, playing the music at the home baseball games, along with running the concession stand. Roy is incharge of videotaping and uploading instructional video for the players to view. Roy has worked baseball camps for the Bob Cressotti Baseball Camp in Enfield, Conn. In the summer of 2009, he worked the Nike Baseball Camp at Wingate University. Roy spent the fall of 2009 with the Dream Bat Bombers travel baseball team. He did his undergraduate internship at the Dream Bat Baseball Company, leading the firm’s marketing efforts. Roy graduated from Wingate University in August, 2009 with a B.S. degree in Sports Management. He is currently pursuing his masters in Sports Administration from the Wingate University graduate school.
