SCBL: Ballantyne Smokies

OWNERS

 

Chad Tracy grew up in Charlotte and attended West Mecklenburg High School. He has been playing baseball in Charlotte since he was 3 years old and played collegiately for East Carolina University in Greenville. After being drafted in 2001, he played professionally for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees. Florida Marlins, and Hiroshima Carp. Chad currently plays for the Washington Nationals. Chad and his wife Katie recently moved back to the Ballantyne area where they are happy to raise their daughters as Charlotteans.

 


 

John Spencer is the General Manager of the Ballantyne Smokies. Also local, John played at Independence High School and Wingate University. He also played two years of professional baseball in the Frontier League. Since his playing days, John has been the head coach at Myers Park High School and currently works for Lids. He now resides in Indian Land, SC with his wife Jamie and two kids, Lyric and Jett.

 

 

 

 

 


 

John deMaine has been a part of Charlotte baseball assisting many programs over the years. While in the fire safety business, John also found time to assist Providence High School, Independence High School, Parkwood High School, and Marvin Ridge High School. John’s son Mike is the General Manager of the Greenville Drive.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Bill Capps is the founder of the SCBL. The Carolina Sox started as one of the first high school travel teams in Charlotte. Many of the areas best throughout the 1990’s played for the Carolina Sox. The Carolina Sox opened many doors for the showcase Baseball seen today. Bill is also the commissioner of the SCBL.
